MIRPURKHAS, June 11: The doctors and surgeons from the Unites States, under the directives of their embassy, have been prevented from travelling in the interior of Sindh on account of the law and order situation, it was reliably learnt on Wednesday.
Even the police officials refused to provide security to foreign experts, sources claimed.
The doctors and surgeons were supposed to participate in a four-day free medical camp scheduled for June 12-15 at the Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas.
However, a team of prominent surgeons of the country, led by Dr Shershah Syed, will attend the free medical camp.
The doctors have already been advised to enrol patients in the civil hospital so that their treatment and surgery could be ensured in the camp, being organized by the Pakistan Medical Association, Mirpurkhas, in collaboration with the district government and the health department, Mirpurkhas.
The patients will be provided medical care and medicines free of cost.
The district Nazim, Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, has nominated Dr Ghazi Khan Mari as his representative for the camp. He has been asked to provide available resources in the camp.
Dr Mari told this correspondent that arrangements had been made at the civil hospital for the camp.
A team of surgeons has been constituted under the leadership of Surgeon Mohammad Haneef Awan, whereas two operation theatres have also been set up.
WATER PIPELINE REPAIRED: The main water supply line on the Tando Adam Road, which was damaged by some peasants two days back, has been repaired by the Public Health Engineering department staff on Tuesday.
The peasants of some landlords were trying to steal water for their agricultural land by damaging the pipeline.
PROBE BEGINS: An inquiry committee comprising a surgeon, doctors and the union council Nazim, Tando Jan Mohammad, began a probe into several deaths of women while having Caesarean section in an operation theatre in the Taluka hospital, Digri.
