Earlier in the day, Sharif also held a meeting with the Defence Minister Khawaja Asif at the Prime Minister's House and discussed the issue of missing persons.

During the meeting, the premier advised the defence minister on the issue of missing persons.

Khawaja Asif was given the portfolio of the defence ministry after Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry summoned the defence minister (portfolio then held by the prime minister) during the Supreme Court’s hearing of the missing persons case.
