LAHORE, Nov 28: A team of Indian filmmakers has reached Lahore for audition of new faces for a co-production between India and Pakistan.

The audition for romantic comedy ‘India Mein Lahore’ for girls will take place on Friday (today) and for boys on Saturday in a hotel near the Lahore Canal. Some auditions have already been taken.

“The salient feature of this film is that there will be no popular artiste from both sides. The entire cast will be based on new faces,” Project Manager Husnain told Dawn.

He said another novel aspect of this co-production was that two heroines would be cast in the film from both sides. The flick would have shooting spells in both countries, he said.

The Indian team comprises film director Ikram Akhtar, producer Rajesh Tripathi, Sanjay Masoom and co-producer from Pakistan Shehnsha Kausar Zaidi.

Sanjay Masoom has written dialogues for films such as Janat 1, Janat 2 and Krish 3.

The Indian filmmakers will return home on Dec 1.

Ikram Akhtar is a Bollywood director of high repute.

He has worked as an assistant director in films like Welcome, Ready, No Problem and Chal Meray Bhaie.

According to the project director the call for auditions has been given only through social media as no advertisements are given in the Pakistani print or electronic media. The music of the film has been composed by Jatin-Lalit duo. The two brothers have written scores for films such as Khiladi, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Khamoshi: The Musical, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Yes Boss, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai,Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein and Fanaa.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a speech at a recent literary conference in Lahore had said Pakistan wanted to have good relations with all its neighbours including India.

A number of parallel theatre actors and students from different educational institutions are expected to go for auditions for ‘India Mein Lahore.’
