LAHORE, June 9: The Lahore Church Council of the United Church on Monday moved the civil court, challenging the authority of the Forman Christian College principal to make appointments on the FCC’s board of directors.

The court issued notice to FCC Principal Peter H Armacost and 14 directors for June 13 on a suit filed by the LCCUC for permanent injunction.

The LCCUC also requested the court to restrain the 14 college directors from functioning on the BoGs and further participating in any administrative activity of the college.

The FCC’s sitting principal approached registrar of the Joint Stock Companies and enterprises and investment promotion district office for the renewal of the existing BoGs allegedly through fake nominations.

According to the plaintiff, the LCCUC was actual owner of the FCC prior to its nationalization in 1972. Its ownership right had been revived following the issuance of a notification from the government in 1996, ordering the return of all the nationalized institutions to their former owners.

It said the college principal was neither authorized to nominate any member on the BoGs nor could he approach the authorities concerned for the renewal of the existing board since he had acquired the FCC’s possession through a fake power of attorney.

The plaintiff claimed that even the existing directors were not entitled to function, as the current status of the entire administration had become disputed following the handing over of the FCC to the Presbyterian Church.
