KARACHI, June 9: An election tribunal, headed by Justice Zawar Hussain Jaffery of Sindh High Court, has ordered the jail superintendent to produce MPA Younus Khan of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) on June 12, as his counsel did not turn up before the tribunal.

The court was hearing election petition of Muttahida Qaumi Movement losing candidate Mirza Qudratullah Baig, who challenged the results of provincial assembly constituency PS-122 Karachi.

The counsel for petitioner, Abdul Ghafoor submitted the proposed issues before the court.

The court was told that notice about proceedings of tribunal could not be received by Younus Khan’s counsel, as he had shifted his office to somewhere else.

The court ordered that since MPA Younus Khan had been in judicial custody, the production order be issued for his appearance before the tribunal through superintendent jail, as respondent’s counsel did not appear before tribunal nor proposed issues had been filed by him. — PPI
