SIALKOT, June 7: District Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid has promised to provide electricity in all the 1,065 villages in the district by the year 2004.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he said the district government had sought the cooperation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the construction of 200km farm-to-market roads and for providing 200 water turbines to farmers.

He said that early provision of funds would be helpful in developing and promoting the agriculture sector in Sialkot district, which had recently been declared a Barani area by the Punjab government. He said that the district government had formulated citizen community boards in all the 122 union councils of the district for smooth development of rural and urban areas through public participation.
