ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: The district administration has set up a control room in F-8 sector to monitor the security arrangements and effectively respond to any untoward incident during Muharram.

The representatives of different departments, including the police, fire brigade, ambulance service, civil defence and the CDA are available in the control room so that the departments concerned can work in coordination to deal with any emergency.

Meanwhile, the capital police along with the Rangers on Saturday conducted a flag march in the entire city to show their preparedness to maintain peace during Muharram.

Over 200 personnel of the police and Rangers in 40 vehicles participated in the flag march.

The flag march started from the Sports Complex and culminated at the same point after passing through Aabpara Chowk, Melody, Imambargah Isna Ashri G-6/2, Blue Area, Jinnah Avenue, Imambargah Al-Sidiq G-9/2, F-10 Markaz, F-11 Markaz Bheka Syedan, Golra Sharif, Shah Allah Ditta and Tarnol to G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, Jamia Al Murtaza G-9/4, Khyber Chowk and Kashmir Highway.

The IGP, Sikandar Hayat, on the occasion said the police had put in place stringent security arrangements for Muharram.

He also directed to launch an effective search operation, including in slums where most of the inhabitants were Afghan national.
