LAHORE, Nov 4: Law and Local Government Minister Rana Sanaullah has condemned Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders’ statements regarding stopping Nato supplies and opening the Taliban’s office in the country as “unconstitutional”, “unwise” and suicidal for the whole nation.

“Statements of PTI chairman Imran Khan and opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mahmoodur Rasheed regarding opening of the Taliban’s office in Pakistan and stopping Nato supply, respectively, are highly lamentable, unconstitutional and unwise,” he said while talking to the media here on Monday.

The minister wondered how the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could itself take a decision with regard to Nato supply as the issue was related to defence and foreign affairs ministries.

Rana Sana said Imran’s thinking was still childish though he had turned 62.

He said the only difference between Imran and the Taliban was that the latter were stationed in Waziristan while the former stayed in Islamabad.

“The Taliban put a (suicide) jacket on one person while Imran intends to put the jacket on the whole nation,” he added.

The minister said the nation thought the US was sabotaging the government’s dialogue with the Taliban and the “force sabotaging the dialogue process was not our friend”.

Shujaat: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat has demanded all agreements about Nato supplies signed with the US, whether during recent visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or by the previous government, should be made public.

“The nation wants to know about all accords struck with the US during the prime minister’s recent visit and the previous government’s tenure regarding Nato containers’ passage (from the country),” he said in a statement issued here on Monday.

“Out of about 0.750 million Nato containers, 70 per cent will be using Pakistani soil which means that one container will pass through Pakistani territory every seven minutes carrying $35 billion worth goods. The nation should be told how much the country will benefit from or suffer because of this process,” he demanded.

Shujaat said the nation should also be provided details of the agreement, including the assurances given to the US government regarding Nato containers’ passage, procedure evolved and terms agreed upon in this regard, as only after knowing all these details, any line of action could be worked out.
