QUETTA, June 6: Balochistan transporters have demanded of the government to cancel the plots illegally allotted by the Quetta Development Authority (QDA) at the new bus stand of Hazarganji.
Speaking at a joint press conference here on Thursday their leaders threatened that if the government did not accept the demand by June 20, transporters would block highways and observe strikes.
Leaders of the All Balochistan United Transporters Union— Mir Rustam Lehri, Haji Muhammad Ali Kurd, Noor Muhammad Shahwani— alleged that the Quetta Development Authority officials had totally ignored the owners of trucks, Mazdas and pick-ups in the allotment of plots.
The union had over 300 members, but not a single person was allotted plot, they claimed.
They were also critical of the Quetta Nazim for his dual standards and demanded of the government to take notice of his stand on the issue.
The transporters’ leaders also demanded of the prime minister, provincial governor and chief minister to provide justice to the people and allot plots to the union members.
