KARACHI, June 5: Ghulam Shah poached a scintillating hat trick to help Hyderi Baloch bulldoze Bhutta Mohammadan 7-1 in the second round opener of the KASB Premier League on Thursday.

Hyderi Baloch started their opposition’s demolition by going 4-0 ahead before the breather at Gabol Park.

The game started with two quickfire goals with nimble-footed midfielder Aftab Ahmad scoring in the 22nd minute followed by another strike a minute later through Mohammad Rustam.

Aftab took barely two minutes to strike again, while Ali Mohammad compounded Bhutta Mohammadan’s miseries with a 28th-minute goal which made the score 4-0.

Bhutta Mohammadan got their acts together in the second session to score the consolation goal through Ansar in the 55th minute but slumped against Ghulam’s onslaught.

Bhutta Mohammadan’s hopes of any recovery dashed when Ghulam, the player of the match, slotted home his first in the 65th minute added another three minutes later, and completed the first treble of the tournament with a last-minute attack.

Hyderi Baloch might have surged further ahead, but some fine saves by stand-in goalkeeper Nawab Khan prevented them from scoring.

Friday’s fixture: Baloch Mohammadan v Nawab XI at CDGK.
