KARACHI, June 5: The Nazim of Jutland Line Union Council, Mehfooz-un-Nabi Khan, said at a meeting on Thursday that all land lying in the north of Mubarak Shaheed Road, including the Grammar School ground, had already been transferred to the Lines Area Development Project and a payment of Rs300 million made to the cantonment authorities.
He said that Army Welfare Trust Authority had no locus standi to start construction in the ground which is the only recreational place and playground for the children and residents.
He demanded that the construction work in the ground of Grammar School should stop forthwith. “If such construction is allowed to continue, the residents will be deprived of the only ground for sports and games in the area,” he deplored.
He said up to 200 acres were to be transferred to the Lines Area Project but only 172 acres were provided. —PPI
