KARACHI: Bodies of two men bearing torture marks were recovered from Karachi’s Surjani Town and Baloch Colony areas, DawnNews reported on Saturday.

The bodies, however, could not be identified.

Meanwhile, earlier on Friday, Mohammed Majid, 39, was gunned down in what police described as an ongoing fight between gangsters in the Chanesar Goth area.

Similarly, Mujahid Baloch, 31, was gunned down allegedly by one Waqar after they had a scuffle over water supply in Shanti Nagar.

Separately, a member of the Rangers paramilitary force was wounded in an armed attack on a raiding party in the Chakiwara area of Lyari on Friday.

A Rangers spokesperson had said in a statement that targeted raids were carried out on the hideouts of Taju/Mulla Nisar groups of the ‘Lyari gang warfare’ in Singu Lane. Upon seeing the Rangers, criminals resorted to firing, the statement had said, adding that Rangers troops returned fire and after a brief encounter three gangsters were arrested.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.

Four hundred seats?

The mix of divisive cultural politics and growth-oriented economics that feeds Hindu middle-class ambition and provides targeted welfare are key ingredients in the BJP’s political trajectory.
