ISLAMABAD, June 3: In a major administrative reshuffle, the government on Tuesday appointed Shujja Shah, a Grade 22 officer of Customs group, principal secretary to the prime minister in place of Nasiruddin Mehmood.

Official sources said the NWFP’s Inspector-General of Police and chief secretary were also summoned by the prime minister and were asked to report to the Establishment Division. Their replacements had not been announced.

Nasiruddin Mehmood has been appointed secretary cabinet division. Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind has been asked to report to the establishment division and in his place Dr Mutawakal Kazi has been appointed new Sindh chief secretary.

Changes in the bureaucracy have been made after the federal government announcement on Monday that it would take administrative measures to check the deteriorating law and order situation in the NWFP.
