LARKANA, June 3: Armed men killed four members of a family in the jurisdiction of the Qubo Saeed Khan police near Shahdadkot on Monday night.

Gul Hassan Khaskheli with four accomplices barged into the house of his stepbrother Hussain Bakhsh and showered bullets on the inmates who were sleeping in the courtyard.

As a result, Bakhsh, 50, his sons, Ramzan, 22, Yusuf, 20, and daughter, Bashiran, 10, were killed on the spot.

Hassan, who does not have a daughter, had asked his stepbrother to give the hand of his daughter in marriage to Sharbat Khan to settle a Karo-kari dispute.

Hassan had been accused of having illicit relations with Sharbat’s mother who had been killed on the charge of being Kari. A Jirga had decided to settle the dispute by marrying a girl of the family of the accused to Sharbat.

Bakhsh had refused to oblige his stepbrother and had asked him to settle the dispute by paying money to Sharbat.

Hassan has been arrested, the three other accused are absconding.
