KARACHI, June 3: A jobless man committed suicide in Mochko on Tuesday.

Police said Afzal Rauf, 30, sprinkled kerosene oil on his body and set himself on fire in his home in Mochko.

The young man was rushed to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim was jobless for the past several months, family said.

KILLED: A housewife was killed by her husband in their home in Ibrahim Hyderi.

Police said Rasheed, 15, the son of the victim, told the police that he found his mother Haseen Bibi, 35, dead when he woke up in the morning.

Police said, according to the boy, his mother and step-father had a quarrel.

The body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem examination.

SHOT DEAD: Armed men shot dead a driver and injured his conductor by opening fire on a truck at Link Road in Gadap on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sher Ali while the injured as Majeed.

ROBBERIES: Three guards of a private security company posted at the Al-Falah MCB branch broken open at least 50 bank lockers and decamped with cash and valuables worth millions, leaving behind their weapons and uniforms.

Police said one guard belonged to the Muslim Commercial Bank while two others were employees of a private security agency.

The branch manager, Abdul Aziz Baloch, lodged an FIR at the Al-Falah police station on Monday.

However, actual worth of the valuables is yet to be ascertained by the bank staff, police said.

The guards have been identified Shabbir, Soomar and Hazrat.

ACCIDENT: An elderly woman died when she was hit by a vehicle on Sharea Faisal.

Police said an unidentified woman in her early 60s was knocked down by a vehicle near Star Gate.

Her body was shifted to JPMC where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

DIES: A young labourer died, while his associate received injuries after falling from a lift in the Export Processing Zone.
