Punjab CNG stations to shut down for three months

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has decided to shut down all compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Punjab, the most populated province, for three months starting from November.
Federal minister for petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told reporters on Tuesday that due to shortages of gas in winter, all CNG stations in the province will be closed from November to January.
Pakistan suffers from a chronic gas shortage. Many Pakistanis have converted their cars to run on CNG, depending on it as a cheaper alternative to petrol and diesel.
The switch to CNG by both private and commercial sectors as an alternative fuel for motor transport has hampered an already burdened gas supply.
Pakistani households use gas as fuel for domestic usage.
“Our first priority are domestic consumers during the winters, so there will be no gas for motor transport in Punjab,” Abbasi said.

Very good decision - - -This decision should be enforced all over Pakistan - - CNG Stations should be demolished, when one can buy expensive cars one can easily afford petrol which is not at all expensive.

Why three months, why not three years? Now watch inflation in Punjab, which will have a nationwide affect. Even though CNG is not 10% cheaper than petrol. We need a better plan, substitute to CNG, petrol.

governemnet need earning may b introduce lng .and once its launch, new stations will built up, cars need new technologies,may b low in price of lng but so much burden on people to avail this governemnet public enemy policy.

My only question to government, what are they doing to cope-up with the issue. No progress on Iran Pakistan Gas pipeline, No progress on exploring new gas resources, they continue to increase Petrol prices. Such an incapable leadership we have whose only focuses is on corruption.

Meanwhile the extremely pro-Saudi Government of Pakistan continues delaying tactics with the construction of IP-gas pipeline. Forget CNG for motor vehicles -- if we don't ramp up production and import lots of natural gas at our earliest, Pakistan is looking at billions of dollars in imports for fertilizers.

Very strange reason for shutting down in Punjab only. The stated reason is valid all over the Pakistan. Shortage is one thing but discrimination is far more teasing and agonising.

This announcement is aimed at starting riots in Punjab and the actual motive is to seek increase in gas allocation for the province. However, PML-N government is ignoring a fact that highest pilferage of gas is also in Punjab also estimated around 300 mmcfd, three times the gas needed by CNG stations. This gas is pilfered by those enjoying access to power corridors. It is also to remind the apex court that if litigation regarding some mega gas fields are resolved, nearly 1,500 mmcfd can be added to system.Closing CNG stations will increase POL import bill and the agreement arrived with IMF will not be sufficient to save Pakistan from ultimate default.

Can you handle Ghayas Piracha the Head of the CNG Stations & the govt along with the minister incharge does not have the power nor the GUTS to implement anything,so guys who use CNG need not worry as this govt believes in FAKE statements.
