BEIJING, Oct 5: Chinese golfer Shanshan Feng shot a 9-under 64 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after the third round of the Reignwood LPGA Classic.

Feng carded nine birdies in a bogey-free round for a total of 21-under 198, just ahead of American Stacy Lewis. Feng is the only Chinese major winner, and was in a two-way duel with Lewis all day before grabbing the outright lead with a birdie on 16. Both players added birdies on the final two holes.

Feng, 24, said she was “a little nervous” at the start of the day and did not get the start she wanted in what were foggy conditions, but then began to sink some birdies.

“And then I saw Stacy was making a lot of birdies, too, so I was like I need to catch up with her,” she said, according to a press release from the organisers.

Top-ranked Inbee Park was another four strokes back in third after finishing with four straight birdies for a 66.

Australia’s Karrie Webb was seven shots back in fourth. Overnight leader Jessica Korda of the US slipped to sixth after a 76 that included a double bogey and four bogeys.
