QUETTA, Oct 3: Fateh Mohammad Buledi of the National Party was elected unopposed to the Balochistan Assembly after candidates of PML-N and JUI-F withdrew their nomination papers on Thursday.

The provincial assembly seat (PB-49 Kech-2) had fallen vacant after NP’s MPA Mir Azeem Buledi died on Aug 13.

He was found shot dead in his Turbat house. After an inquiry, police said the MPA received a bullet to his neck which caused his death.

The Returning Officer concerned issued a statement on Thursday night, saying Nawab Shambayzai of the PML-N and former senator Ismail Buledi of the JUI-F had withdrawn their nomination papers in favour of Mr Fateh Buledi.

“Fateh Mohammad Buledi returned unopposed to the Balochistan Assembly,” the RO said in the statement.
