HYDERABAD, June 1: Sindh Irrigation Minister Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi has directed irrigation department and Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority officials to ensure that water supply through illegal means is stopped.

The minister was speaking at a meeting of Sida here on Saturday.

A participant of the meeting told this correspondent that the minister also issued instructions to the officials that tail-end growers should be provided their due share of water and no one should be allowed to tamper with watercourses.

The minister was informed about complaints regarding partisan attitude of some officials of Sida.

The meeting also discussed the Right Bank Outfall Drain project in the wake of complaints of growers that the design of the project had been changed which would result in destruction of agricultural lands.

The irrigation officials claimed that the concerned growers wanted that the alignment of the RBOD project should be changed because they had their own interests. The meeting was attended by Sida chairman Abdul Haq, managing-director Rafi

Saffi Munshi, adviser to Sindh chief minister on Sida affairs Ali Akbar Nizamani and others.
