FAISALABAD, May 30: The Faisalabad Union of Journalists has condemned the police baton-charge on mediamen outside the Punjab Assembly building, terming it a harsh step on the part of the rulers.
At a meeting held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of union president Mohammed Yousaf, a resolution was passed urging the government to take legal action against the police officers who had ordered baton-charge on reporters and photographers.
The meeting also noted with concern the attitude of top ranking government officers who had so far failed to fix the responsibility of the incident on any official.
The baton-charge on journalists would create a rift between the press and the government, it said.
The meeting asked the chief minister to apologize over the incident and take action against the officers involved in this incident.
