SHEIKHUPURA, May 30: Cotton bales and other raw material worth Rs11 million were reduced to ashes at the Abid Kalem Spinning Mill in Kot Nazer Hussain on Nankana-Warburton Road on Friday.

The consignment was lying on factory premises when some unidentified person threw a burning match-stick on it. The flames engulfed the cotton bales in no time.

The fire-brigade and factory employees put out the fire after hectic efforts. The company’s chief executive alleged in the police report that one Akram, an employee of the Agha Security Services, was responsible for the incident.

Further investigation is underway. —Correspondent
