Balochistan girl scores top grades in ‘O Levels’

QUETTA: A girl student of Balochistan got five A*s (90 per cent or more) and three As (between 80pc and 89.9pc) in this year’s O Level examinations given by the University of Cambridge, it was learnt on Sunday.

Rafia Durrani, a student of the Iqra Army Public School, Quetta, may be the region’s top-scorer for the examinations.

According to the information released by the British university, Rafia secured A*s in English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry and Urdu. She secured As in biology, Islamiyat and Pakistan studies.

Congratulations. In our time 80-89 percentile was a B and getting 7-8 A's (over 90 percentile) was pretty much the minimum required to get in a top A'Levels' school.

This is wonderful. In many third world countries, by not letting women get proper education kills off potential inventors, rocket scientists, writers or doctors etc. perhaps there is a child out there who can discover cure for cancer or aids but will not because he or she will never get a chance of education.

This is a good achievement but not the worthy of getting so much praise and importance. Dozens of other kids in Pakistan got much much better results than that in O Levels this year and did not get noticed. Imagine their feelings !!!
