LAHORE, Sept 11: Wapda won both the men and women’s team event titles at the 15th All-Pakistan Aamir Hayat Khan Rokhari Ranking Badminton Tournament here on Wednesday.

In the men’s team event final, Wapda outclassed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3-0. Wapda’s Ali Mehdi defeated Masood 21-11, 21-13 while Ali’s partner Shabbar Hussain overcame 21-9, 21-16 Hayatullah in the singles matches.

The pair of Zeeshan and Atiq overwhelmed the Kashif-Amir duo 21-11, 21-12 in the doubles match to record a 3-0 win for Wapda.

Meanwhile, Wapda’s women maintained their badminton supremacy as they outplayed Punjab in the final with the identical margin of 3-0.

Wapda’s Saima overpowered Ghazala of Punjab 21-13, 21-16 as Khizra beat Menal 21-6, 21-7 in the singles matches. The Sadia-Saima pair made it 3-0 for Wapda as they outclassed the Memoona-Ghazala duo 21-14, 21-10 in the doubles match.

Meanwhile, Palwasha Bashir, Sara Mohmand, Saira Razzaq, Sadia Arshad, Saima Waqas, Khizra Rasheed, Farzana Ali and Mahoor Shahzad reached quarter-finals in the women’s singles category.
