LAHORE, Sept 3: Lahore College for Women’s University (LCWU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sabiha Mansoor says a school should nurture its students and inculcate strong values into them to become good citizens.

She said this at a seminar on Tuesday at the launch of the Model Primary School (MPS) on varsity campus for out-of-school, underprivileged and marginalised children.

She stressed the need for appreciating diversity in bilingual mode teaching. She also suggested half-an-hour of sports and physical activities, weekly computer classes, student counseling for emotionally-challenged children as well as activity-based teaching and research-informed instruction.

She encouraged the involvement of all departments of the university to play their role, in their respective areas of expertise.

Child Care Foundation CEO Yasmeen Zaki said according to the latest statistics, some 20 million children were living below poverty line.

MPS management committee chairperson Prof Riffat Saqlain also spoke.

FREE COUNSELLING: The Punjab University is setting up free counselling services for university teachers and students for admissions to foreign universities, applying for foreign scholarships, visa processing guidance and allied matters.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran is scheduled to inaugurate an advisory cell on foreign education at the Student Teacher Centre on Wednesday (today).
