KARACHI: Seven people were killed and three others injured Wednesday in different incidents of violence in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

Two bodies were found in the city’s Rexer Lines and the Mewa Shah graveyard. Both the victims had been kidnapped before being tortured to death.

Earlier, a body was found in Karachi’s Jamia Millia area. The victim had been shot dead.

In a separate incident, two persons were killed due to firing in Korangi Crossing and near Wireless Gate on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Moreover, gunmen killed a man named Faheem in the city’s Lines area whereas another man sustained injuries due to firing in the same incident. A police officer was also injured when gunmen opened fire on him in the Malir area of Karachi.

A man injured during firing in Sector 19-D of Baldia Town succumbed to his wounds in a local hospital.

Meanwhile, killings of four young men in a deadly clash between two rival groups on Machi Miani Road in Kharadar spread panic in the area due to which markets were closed.

Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, has been a witness of incidents of terrorism and targeted killings for many years and the situation remains unchanged in several parts of the city. According to a recent estimate, the number of killings in the city jumped to more than 2,300 in 2012 from 1,700 the previous year. More than 1,400 murders have already been recorded since the start of this year.
