LAHORE, May 27: Robbers looted cash, gold and prize bonds worth Rs1 million from a house in Sattukatla on Tuesday.

Rana Tariq told police that four gunmen stormed into his house and held his family hostage at gunpoint. The intruders collected cash, jewellery, prize bonds and valuables worth Rs1 million and escaped.

Three armed men took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs300,000 from the house of an assistant director of Anti-Corruption Establishment, Naeemur Rahman, in Muqaddas Park, Gulshan-i-Ravi.

BURNT: The charred body of an unidentified man, around 35, was found at Chungi Amar Sadhu, Kot Lakhpat, on Tuesday.

The body of another unidentified man, around 30, was recovered from the canal in Mughalpura.

The bodies have been sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

ENCOUNTER: A police constable was shot and injured in what the police termed an encounter in North Cantonment on Tuesday night.

The police said ASI Mushtaq and constable Amanat Ali intercepted two men for search, but they whipped out pistols and opened fire on them. The constable sustained injuries while the attackers escaped on foot.

The injured was rushed to the Services Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical till late night.
