QUETTA, May 27: Irregularities have been committed in the recruitment of Levies in Turbat, Balochistan home minister Sardar Sanaullah Zehri conceded on Tuesday, adding that an inquiry will be instituted to probe the matter.
“Yes, I accept the Turbat district administrative officer is involved in irregularities in the appointment of Levies men,” he said while speaking during the ‘Zero-Hour’ session of the Balochistan Assembly, which was presided over by Speaker of the provincial assembly Jamal Shah.
An MPA belonging to the Balochistan National Movement, Mir Jan Mohammad Buledi, had earlier accused the Turbat DAO of having recruited Levies personnel prior to the expiry of the last date for submitting job applications.
He said the last date from submitting applications had been fixed as May 26.
Responding to the allegations levelled by the BNM MPA, the home minister said the officer concerned would face disciplinary action after the completion of the official inquiry.
Criticizing the bureaucracy, the home minister said it were bureaucrats who committed “blunders” which were later blamed on ministers, adding that such mistakes would not be tolerated in the future, and appointments would be made on merit alone.
Referring to the issues raised by the opposition and treasury benches, the minister said the government would resolve vital issues with mutual consensus, adding that the opposition would not be ignored and no injustice would be done.
He assured the legislators that he would welcome suggestions for the resolution of problems being faced by the people of their constituencies.
Earlier, a woman MPA of the ruling party, Robina Irfan, raised the issue of women teachers’ transfer to outside of their native districts.
She said that violating the tradition and rules, the women teachers were transferred to the far-flung areas of the province.
She said that 25 women teachers were transferred to Mastung from Quetta against only 7 vacant posts. She also demanded government building for the primary school on Sabzal Road where 450 students were studying in a three-room rented house.
Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal of Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party demanded an end to unannounced loadshedding of electricity in Quetta. He said people were facing great problems due to this unnecessary loadshedding.
Ambroz John Francis, a minority MPA, pointed out that the government had imposed heavy taxes on the Catholic Board, which was playing a very important role in providing quality education to the people of Balochistan.
He demanded that these taxes should be withdrawn immediately.
The PPP member of the assembly, Shafiq Ahmed Khan, demanded that the children of civilians also be given admission to the cantonment public schools. He also suggested that a double shift be started in these schools for accommodating maximum number of students.
Pakistan Muslim League (Q)’s Rahila Durrani condemned the murder of the cousin of former governor Balochistan, and demanded that dacoits involved in the killing be arrested without delay. The house offered fateha for the depart soul.
