Bugti murder case: ATC orders authorities to produce Musharraf on Sept 10

QUETTA: During Monday’s hearing of the Akbar Bugti murder case, an anti-terrorism court in Quetta ordered the authorities to produce before it former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, the main accused in the case, on September 10 as it adjourned the matter to the said date, DawnNews reported.

ATC judge Ismail Baloch was hearing the case relating to the murder of Baloch nationalist leader Akbar Bugti.

During the hearing, the judge expressed displeasure at the team investigating Bugti's murder over their failure to produce Musharraf for the hearing.

Moreover, the ATC once again issued arrest warrants for former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former Balochistan governor Owais Ahmed Ghani, former deputy commissioner of Dera Bugti Abdul Samad Lasi, who are also nominated in the murder of the Baloch leader.

The court also directed the authorities to produce the accused men at the hearing fixed for September 10 and subsequently adjourned the matter to the said date.

Akbar Khan Bugti was killed in a cave on August 26, 2006 during a military crackdown ordered by Musharraf who was president and army chief at the time.

Bugti had led an armed campaign to press for provincial autonomy and a greater share of profits from Balochistan’s natural resources. The death of the Baloch chieftain sparked angry protests in the country.

treating an ex-president like a yoyo for alleged crimes is nothing short of vendetta by the judiciary!the cross eyed ifi should know that justice delayed is justice denied and pakistan is becoming a laughing stock in the legal circles and the world.If the guy is guilty and you have evidence go for it otherwise let him go free - he has human rights as well.Do not forget , under him there was peace, progress and prosperity for pakistan!

IS the ATC judge Ismail Baloch going to issue arrest warrants for the insurgents as well? What sort of just is this. The writ of the government has been challenged by a gone by era chieftain who still thought he was the Nawab and ruled the country. To bring him down to earth and reality the government of time did every thing possible to bring him into the folds fo the government but these so called nawabs have failed to realise they no longer rule the masses and don't have the their estates any more. So they are not special any more and are just like any other civilian. Why the Judge has not Bugti's son and his followers on trial for terrorism? Its a bias trial.

Bughti revolted and was fighting against government forces. He got killed. How about issuing warrant of arrest against Bughti. Mr. Judge wake up, lt is no time for vendetta.

Bugti challenged the State of Pakistan as a "rebel" and he was pursued by the Pakistan Armed Forces as he fought them leading to his death. So why should the then sitting President of Pakistan be tried for the rebel terrorist's death? It's a very bad precedent. the lawmakers & CJP must get their law straight. Something is fundamentally wrong within the legislative, legal & judicial system of Pakistan that needs to be corrected. The law in Pakistan is fast becoming a mockery and joke for people all over the world. People who need to be tried and hanged for unpatriotic and rebellious acts are the Talibans, the al-Quaida and the other terrorists who are constantly killing innocent Pakistani civilians.

Yeah another political drama just to keep him from getting support. This will not long last this judiciary must act according to constitution rather than political vindictiveness. A case pertaining to a murder for a military operation cannot be lodged in any court of law this is negation of the constitution. This judiciary must read whats taking place in Egypt.

Once upon a time Musharraf was fighting for Pakistan (long ago just 12 year before) now these days Pakistan fighting for him to get him punishment. "Waqt ke saath daga karonge to Waqt bhi tumhe daga denga"
