ISLAMABAD, May 25: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali said on Sunday the government would take all the decisions for the solidarity and prosperity of the country in accordance with national interest.

In his brief speech after inaugurating the annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif commonly known as Bari Imam, here at Noorpur Shahan, the prime minister said he was aware that people were worried about developments on the internal and external fronts, and added that nothing would be done contrary to the wishes of the countrymen.

Mr Jamali said there was nothing to be worried about the internal situation in the country, and added the government would take all measures in the national interest.

“I assure the countrymen that for the survival of the country, every step would be taken in line with the wishes of the people,” he said.

He held out the assurance that no decision would be taken against the aspiration and interest of the people and the country.

He said the government would take the nation into confidence in all the decisions for the welfare and progress of the country.

The prime minister said he was aware that there were many things and sectors which needed improvement, and efforts in that direction were already under way.

Appreciating the role of Sufis and saints like Bari Imam in the promotion Islam in the region, Mr Jamali said it was due to work of these saints that people were practising Islam in the region.

Mr Jamali said he was informed by Raja Akram, custodian of the Bari Imam shrine, that the development work which was started in 1989 had not been completed as yet. He said he would do his utmost to get the development work completed.

A large number of bureaucrats, politicians and businessmen from Islamabad were present on the occasion.
