Four killed on road

GUJRANWALA, May 25: Four people, including an elderly woman, were killed while two dozen others sustained injuries in different road accidents in and around the city here on Sunday.

Two cyclists Irfan and Azam of Jandiala Dhabwala village, Wazirabad, were on way to their outhouse when a speeding bus hit them. Irfan died on the spot while Azam succumbed to his injuries at the local THQ Hospital.

Sughran Bibi of Talwandi Musa Khan was run over by Pasrur-bound bus on the Pasrur Road. She was crossing the road. The bus crew escaped from the scene.

A passenger, Imran Elahi, died on the spot while about two dozen others received injures when Sheikhupura-bound bus rammed into a roadside tree near Ghumanwala village.

The injured were admitted to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

REMOVED: : The City tehsil council’s anti-encroachment squad removed all platforms and projections of shops on Sheikhupura Road during an operation clean here on Sunday.

The squad also took into its custody goods of shopkeepers on the charge of creating hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic.

Passers-by and elites of the area had lodged a complaint with City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad that shopkeepers had blocked the road by displaying goods in front of their shops. On his direction, the anti-encroachment squad conducted the raid and demolished all illegal structures.

Tasawar Hussain was rushed to the DHQ Hospital where he died.
