COLOMBO, May 25: The Ceylon Workers Congress, the Tamil political party working for equality with regard to the Tamil workers, has said that it would support the LTTE’s demand for administrative powers in the Northeast within a federal structure.

The head of the party, Thondaman, told reporters on Sunday that it had written to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe highlighting that the CWC supported both a Federal structure and powers of Northeast governance being carried out by the LTTE.

“This is a vision that should have been implemented and succeeded a longtime back. The CWC throughout the past years had been supportive of a devolution of power”, Thondaman stated in a statement seen as one of the first openly supportive statements the CWC had made concerning the LTTE.
