Fighters crossing in to be arrested

Published December 12, 2001

ISLAMABAD, Dec 11: The government has asked the NWFP and Balochistan authorities to arrest all Pakistanis and foreigners, entering into Pakistan from Afghanistan and hand them over a Joint Interrogation Team of CID, ISI, IB (including representatives of Punjab and Sindh), and Special Branch, for investigation, official source told Dawn on Tuesday.

Source said, the purpose of associating Punjab and Sindh with the investigations is that they possess the profiles of those wanted in criminal cases by them.

Others who are not wanted in criminal cases would be proceeded against for illegal border crossing.

Those caught crossing into Balochistan would be interrogated by the Frontier Constabulary (FC), the official source said. All foreign nationals would be handed over to ISI.

The source said that reports on the arrest and the outcome of interrogations would be submitted to the ministry of interior.
