ISLAMABAD, May 23: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali said on Friday that he had received recommendations from the 11-member joint constitutional committee and a meeting would soon be convened to discuss them.

Talking to reporters at the residence of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the prime minister said he would soon call a meeting of all heads of political parties, who were represented in the committee, to discuss and finalize the recommendations.

The prime minister who arrived here after a visit to the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan, first visited the residence of PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and later went to Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence to offer condolence over the death of his relative.

He expressed the hope that all political issues would be resolved amicably in consultation with the respective political leaders.

In reply to a question, he said all parliamentarians were concerned and wanted the political crisis to end.

The participation of MMA leadership in the dialogue was reflective of their positive approach, he said.

Mr Jamali said President Pervez Musharraf had himself openly stated that one person should not have two offices at the same time.

The prime minister also rejected rumours that the forthcoming budget would be presented through an ordinance. “We will present the budget in parliament,” he said.

Asked about the chances of rumpus in the National Assembly as had happened in the previous sessions of parliament, on the occasion of budget presentation, the prime minister expressed the hope it would not happen. “This is not my personal budget, its a national budget,” he added.
