Polygrass turf at PSC

Published May 24, 2003

ISLAMABAD, May 23: A polygrass turf is likely to be placed at Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex (PSC), in about a year’s time, it was officially learnt on Friday.

“An amount of approximately Rs. 17.5 million has been sought by Pakistan Sports Board for its Annual Development Programme 2003-04”, official sources said.

The dassoturf at the PSB-run Nasir Bunda Stadium, laid sometime in 1989, is now totally unplayable as it had “lived out” its ten-years life a few years back.

“The first instalment of the funds will be released in July-August and from then on preparatory work on laying the polygrass turf will be taken in hand”, the sources said.

The polygrass at Nasir Bunda Stadium is the project of PSB while the astro- turf pitches at Bannu, Sialkot, Peshawar, Gojra etc. are being laid in collaboration with Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).—APP
