PESHAWAR, May 23: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said the formation of an Islamic society based on justice and equality, getting provincial rights, protection of human rights and development of neglected areas are the priority areas of the MMA government.
Mr Durrani was talking to a delegation of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Sami) led by Senator Maulana Samiul Haq at the Frontier’s House on Friday. MNA Maulana Hamidul Haq was present.
The chief minister said certain elements were out to create disunity among the component parties of Muttahida Majlis-i- Amal. These elements, he added, lacked wisdom to understand the ideological attachment of the MMA leaders and workers.
Mr Durrani said there was a break down of law and order before the MMA’s government. People were scared as there was no protection to their lives and property. The MMA government decided to launch crackdown on and book outlaws, he said.
He claimed that owing to his government’s policies the law and order situation was improving. He said his government had launched a consultative process aimed at executing development works in a better way.
Maulana Samiul Haq welcomed the approval of Shariat and Hisba Acts by the provincial cabinet.
