DADU, May 23: Two special teams of the army engineering wing arrived here on Friday and initiated investigation against the Right Bank Outfall Drain project officers and contractors for starting work on the drain despite objections to its layout and non-payment of compensation to growers whose lands had been used for laying the drain.

The teams, led by Major Shahbaz, collected bills of the contractors and record of the RBOD and conducted investigation at the sites.

When contacted, executive engineer, RBOD project, Sann division, Khalid Haider Memon, told this correspondent that he had called revenue officials (Tapedars) of the area to verify the land record and assured that compensation would be paid to the land owners.

Mr Memon was recently posted as the executive engineer, RBOD project, Sann division, after Nazeer Ahmed Mahar was transferred and an investigation was initiated in payment to the contractors.
