HYDERABAD, May 22: The Sindh Hari Committee has resolved that it will resist any move by the government to dispose of Sindh’s land to multinational companies.

A motion in this regard was unanimously approved at the 33rd death anniversary of peasants leader Comrade Haider Bux Jatoi, held in Kalhoro Colony here on Wednesday.

The gathering was informed that thousands of acres of Sindh’s land were being disposed of to multinational companies on 99-year lease.

The resolution termed this move a conspiracy to sell the province.

In another resolution, the gathering said the World Bank, IMF and other donor agencies should not fund the Thal canal and other water projects on the River Indus.

The meeting also demanded the establishment of peasants courts, distribution of 16 acres each among landless peasants and restoration of the original plan of the Right Bank Outfall Drain to save villages from being destroyed.

It expressed concern over the increasing unemployment ratio, lawlessness, tribal disputes and customs like Karo-kari and demanded remedial measures.
