ISLAMABAD, May 22: Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Nasser bin Jasim Al-Thani, a prince of the ruling family of Qatar, a prominent businessman with an array of investment projects in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Austria and Malaysia, is visiting Pakistan. The former Deputy Interior Minister of Qatar arrived on Wednesday in Islamabad, accompanied by an investment delegation, to explore investment opportunities in the country.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman, along with the investment delegation headed by Mr Yusuf Abdullah Haroon, a former Governor of West Pakistan, called on the President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, to discuss progress on the Sheikh’s earmarked investment projects in this country.

The delegation discussed options on the proposed US $800 million development of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) lands around Karachi and Lahore airports on a partnership basis with the Authority, arising as a consequence of earlier meetings held between CAA and representatives of the Qatar American Investment Company (QAIC).

Also discussed at the meeting was the erection of a proposed US $100 million sports complex in Karachi in conjunction with the Sindh government, and a proposed US $250 million mini- Disneyland at the site of Bagh-ibne-Qasim in Clifton, Karachi, in collaboration with the city government.

The other members of the delegation were Mr Arval Headrick, Chief Executive Trans Oceanic Shipping Company Inc., Texas, Mr Sarfaraz Rizvi, Chief Executive, Kedah Resort City Sdn. Bhd, Kuala Lumpur and Mr Akbar Ali Hashwani, Chairman, Hashwani Group of Companies, Karachi.
