QUETTA: At least five people, including two policemen, were killed in two separate operations against dacoits in Killa Abdullah and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan on Wednesday.

Alam Faraz, the Assistant Commissioner of Killa Abdullah, told Dawn.com that Levies personnel conducted a search operation against kidnappers and dacoits in the Segai area of Gulistan.

He said one 'criminal' was killed and three were arrested in an injured condition during the operation that lasted for more than two hours.

Faraz added that a Levies man was also killed by miscreants as they resisted the operation.

Moreover, weapons were recovered from the possession of miscreants. "The gang was involved in robberies and incidents of kidnappings", Faraz said.

In another incident, Levies killed two robbers when they attempted to loot a passenger van going from Gandawa to Jacobabad.

Sources in district administration of the Naseerabad district told Dawn.com that a Levies man was also killed during exchange of fire with the robbers.

They said the robbers could not loot the van as Levies men deployed on the highway promptly acted against them.

The dead bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital in Dera Murad Jamali.

A search operation was underway in the area for the arrest of the remaining robbers.
