DADU, May 19: A session of the Khairpur Nathan Shah Taluka Council, held here on Monday, adopted a no-confidence motion against the Nazim and the Naib Nazim of the taluka.

Out of 18 members of the taluka council, 14 attended the session and cast their votes against Taluka Nazim Irfan Leghari and Naib Nazim Shakeel Ahmad Leghari, both belonging to the People’s Party Parliamentarians- backed Awam Dost Panel.

The taluka Nazim is on leave for two months and the Naib Nazim did not attend the session.

Meanwhile, a large number of the PPP activists held a protest demonstration in Khairpur Nathan Shah against what they called illegal casting of votes at the taluka council session against the Nazim and the Naib Nazim.

They were led by district PPP president MNA Rafiq Ahmad Jamali and former federal minister Zafar Ali Leghari.

Talking to journalists, Mr Jamali said the taluka Nazim was on leave for two months and the session was summoned illegally at the insistence of “Jatoi brothers”. He alleged that the members were forced to cast votes against the Nazim and the Naib Nazim through the police.

Mr Leghari said the session was illegal as it was not summoned by the convener. He said till the completion of the leave of the Nazim the session could not be convened.

LOADSHEDDING: A large number of Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists and town residents took out a procession against the local SDO of Hesco in Johi on Monday.

The procession started from the MQM office and terminated at the local press club where the protesters staged a demonstration for half an hour.

The protesters were carrying banners and raising slogans against Hesco officials for issuing detection and inflated bills and resorting to unscheduled loadshedding in the town.
