LAHORE, July 8: Four people were killed and two others injured in four shooting and stabbing incidents in the provincial capital on Monday.

A man was gunned down by an unidentified person in the Main Bazaar of Garhi Shahu on Monday night.

Police said 28-year-old Liaquat Rafique was standing outside his house when an unidentified man fired three shots at him and fled. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

Police said victim’s father Muhammad Rafique had submitted an application to the police a few of hours before the shooting that his son had beaten him and his wife and forced them out of the house.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and began investigation into the murder.

Gujjarpura police said 19-year-old Haji Imran was gunned down allegedly by his friends Ali Butt and Boora in Hajipura following a quarrel.

Police said both sides got into an argument over some issue which led to the shooting incident. The firing also left a passer-by injured. The suspects fled the scene.

Police said the victim ran milk business.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy and are investigating.

Sherakot police said 50-year-old Gulzar Ahmad was stabbed to death allegedly by his maternal nephew who was also injured in cross attack at the victim’s residence on Khiam Road.

Gulzar and Sohail Wajid attacked each other following a marriage dispute involving the victim’s daughter and accused’s brother Rashid.

Gulzar’s daughter had shifted to her father’s house after quarrelling with her husband Rashid. Rashid’s brother Sohail came to the house of Gulzar to resolve the dispute which led to a quarrel. Sohail picked the knife from the kitchen and attacked his maternal uncle who managed to snatch the knife and attacked the suspect.

They were taken to Services Hospital where Gulzar succumbed to his wounds.

Police shifted the body for autopsy, took the murder weapon into custody and began investigation.

Defence-A police said 80-year-old Syed Mehboob Husain Shah was shot at and killed by an unidentified gunman outside Adil Hospital in Defence Housing Authority in the evening.

Cantonment SP (Operations) Umar Riaz said the victim leaving hospital at the time of the shooting died on the spot as he suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his head. The suspect fled the scene.

He said Mehboob of Chichawatni had come to his relative’s house in Ghaziabad, adding the victim was ill.

The SP said preliminary police inquiries suggested some family feud. The body was shifted for autopsy.
