NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 8: A newly-wed couple was shot dead in their house while two other people were wounded in Khan Zaman Lakha village early on Monday morning, the police said.

They added that 32-year-old Sakhawat Ali, son of Mohammad Zaman Pathan, and Seema Chandio, a resident of Bhiria Road, got married a couple of months ago against the wishes of the girl’s relatives.

Early on Monday morning, some armed men allegedly belonging to the Chandio tribe barged into the couple’s house, opened fire on them and killed Sakhawat Ali and Seema and seriously wounded the mother of Sakhawat. In the attack one attacker Sartaj Chandio was also got wounded.

Speaking to Dawn, Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Khan Zaman Lakha police station Shamsdin said that the police took the bodies and the wounded to Mehrabpur Taluka Hospital, where a lady doctor was not available.

The suspect Sartaj was taken into custody as both the injured were referred to Nawabshah for treatment.

He said that after medico-legal formalities of the male at the Mehrabpur Taluka Hospital they went to the Kandiaro Taluka Hospital. However, no lady doctor was available there as well.
