****LAKKI MARWAT, July 7: Police claimed here on Sunday to have arrested five militants during a search operation in the district.**

An official said that the operation was launched after they got information that militants had entered the district to carry out subversive acts. He said that the militants were arrested in Nawazikhel, Malakhel, Sherikhel, Ghazikhel, Tabbi Murad and Wazir Kallay localities of Darra Pezu.

The official said that police, backed by commodes of elite force and anti-terrorism squad and armoured personnel carriers, took part in the operation.

Meanwhile, 48 policemen including sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors and station house officers were transferred in the district.

The transfer orders were issued by DPO Abdul Rashid Khan according to which 43 head constables and constables posted at home stations were transferred with immediate effect.

Through another order, the station house officers and in-charges of police posts were also reshuffled. SI Gul Mohammad, transferred from Bannu district, was posted as SHO of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station while SI Mir Ahmad was posted as SHO to Dadiwala police station. Dadiwala SHO Bashir Khan was made in-charge of Serai Gambila post to replace ASI Abdul Saboor Khan, who posted as in-charge of Lakki City police post.

The in-charge of Lakki City police post, Abdul Munim Khan, was directed to report to police lines.

WORKSHOP: A 10-day training workshop organised by Elementary Education Foundation (EEF) for the teachers of private schools ended here on Sunday.

The concluding session was held at the office of EEF that was attended by educationists, teachers and officials of elementary and secondary education department.

Deputy District Education Officer Haji Khalid Wahab, who was chief guest on the occasion, distributed certificates among the teachers.

EEF district manager Jafer Khan said on the occasion that they launched several projects to provide education facilities to the children of far flung areas at their doorsteps.

Haji Khalid Wahab said that such training sessions would help the teachers to improve their skills and learn new teaching techniques to impart quality education to the students.

“The teachers, who are dedicated and committed to the noble profession, are placed in high esteem in the society,” he said, adding that EEF played a dynamic role in promotion of education in the backward district. **
