ISLAMABAD:Special adviser to the Prime Minister on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz would meet US Secretary of State John Kerry during the sidelines of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Aseans) Regional Forum which is to commence in Brunei from Tuesday.

Their meeting would be the first political contact between Pakistan and United states at such a high level since assumption of power by Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz earlier last month.

"The Syrian crises, Afghanistan situation, bilateral relations and drone attacks are likely to be discussed between two leaders" a senior foreign ministry official told Dawn.com

Before leaving Sartaj Aziz received briefing on his meeting with John Kerry from a strategic institution.

US secretary of state was expected to visit Islamabad last month but dropped his visit due to unexpected developments in the Syria situation.

Moreover Kerry is expected to visit Islamabad this month.
