KARACHI, May 16: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allocated the the One-day International (ODI) match between Pakistan and South Africa at National Stadium in September as a benefit match for former Pakistan wicketkeeper Wasim Bari and not for another ex-Test cricketer Shoaib Muhammad as announced earlier.

PCB in a clarfication said that the warm-up game between the touring South Africa and a Pakistan representative side to be played at Quaid-i-Azam Park in Steel Township Ground will be Shoaib’s benefit match.

Bari, Pakistan’s longest-serving wicketkeeper, is joint Test record holder behind the stumps for an innings with seven catches which he snapped up against New Zealand at Auckland in 1978-79 tour.

During his illustrious 17-year old career Bari played 81 Tests for Pakistan between 1967 and 1984 scoring 1366 runs and also having record 228 victims behind the stumps with 201 catches and 27 stumpings. He also took 52 catches and ten stumpings in 51 ODIs.

Bari also led Pakistan in Tests and one-dayers. His last assignment for Pakistan was as chief selector.
