SHEIKHUPURA, May 16: An activist of the defunct Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan was shot dead on Thursday night near Sheesh Mahal cinema on Gujranwala Road.

Ehsan Babar, a labourer in a nearby glass factory, was residing in Dera Hafizan, some four kilometres away from the city. He was the nephew of Hafiz Ishfaque, markazi leader of the defunct SSP, who had also been shot dead by some unknown assailants about three years ago.

Babar had gone to the city to participate in the Milad-un- Nabi celebrations when some unidentified assailants shot him to death near the Sheesh Mahal cinema.

On the direction of DPO Mubarik Ather, three investigation teams had been constituted under the supervision of DSP Faisal Gulzar for the arrest of the killers.

A case has beenregistered against unidentified culprits.
