BERLIN: German prosecutors have filed terrorism charges against a German-Afghan man accused of being a contact for two brothers who produced propaganda for a group that has carried out attacks in Afghanistan.

The federal prosecutors office said Thursday that the 20-year-old dual citizen was charged with membership in a foreign terrorist organization, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

He was identified only as Mohammed Salim A in line with German privacy rules.

The suspect, who was arrested last September, is also accused of transferring 800 euros to a representative of the group in Pakistan and planning to join it there.

Prosecutors say the suspect provided information on the political situation in Germany to Bonn-born brothers Mounir and Yassin Chouka for use in making German-language recruitment videos in Pakistan.
