Hamid’s portfolio changed

ISLAMABAD: Two days before the Supreme Court is to take up petitions seeking prosecution of former military ruler retired General Pervez Musharraf on treason charges, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif withdrew the law ministry’s portfolio from Zahid Hamid in an apparent move to save his government from any possible embarrassment.

According to a Cabinet Division notification issued on Saturday, Mr Hamid has now been allocated the portfolio of science and technology as federal minister.

It said Khurram Dastagir, the Minister of State for Science and Technology, has been given the portfolio of privatisation. No new law minister has so far been appointed.

Sources in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) told Dawn that Mr Hamid had himself requested the prime minister to change his portfolio after filing of a petition seeking his trial along with Gen Pervez Musharraf for “high treason” since he was the law minister in the Musharraf cabinet as well.

i would like to draw attention of our readers that look at the condition of our politics in which victimization and injustice prevail. Now remember , Mr hamid was the one who was providing the legal advice to Mr mushharaf at the time of 2007 emergency and all the notifications were issued through his office . Had he been an upright politician , he would have refused and resigned. but now he is in the govt and only musharaf is prosecuted . all the accomplice of musharaf should also be tried with out honoring them with ministries.

By letting this man into his Cabinet or Team in any position N.S. is doing the same with the trust of his millions and millions of supporters what this man and his dictator boss had done with the Constitution of the Country. And hence moving towards the same destiny by his own steps and judgement?
