MULTAN, Oct 2: The three-day annual congregation of Dawat-i-Islami will be held near Sher Shah bypass, here, from Oct 5.

A meeting was held on Tuesday to finalize arrangements for the congregation.

The meeting was told that a temporary railway station had been set up near the place of congregation where all special and scheduled trains would stop for five minutes. Karachi Express, Faisalabad Express, Faisalabad non-stop, Tez Ro and Allama Iqbal Express would move to their destination through Multan for three days.

Tickets and other facilities would also be available at the new station.

MODERN EDUCATION: The Punjab government will provide modern education to more than 60,000 girls at union council level.

This was stated by provincial minister for social welfare and women development Shaheen Attiqur Rahman during a literacy support programme at the Khan Model School here on Tuesday.

The minister urged students to acquire skills in information technology as the facility had been provided in the institute.

Meanwhile, Zubair Khan Trust chairman Zubair Farooq said as many as 10 more schools would be set up in far-flung areas on the pattern of the Khan Model School.

Speaking at a ceremony in Mauza Gulzarpur, the minister said the feudals had occupied many health centres and schools due to indifference of the departments concerned and the absence of the staff.

She said the government was committed to provide basic facilities to the people, especially in rural areas, at their doorstep.—Nouman
