HARIPUR, May 14: A local lawyer Sher Mohammed Khan Tanoli advocate has accused an MPA Akhtar Nawaz Khan of kidnapping and holding hostage his brother for ransom.

An FIR to this effect was registered on the complaint of Mr Tanoli, a resident of Islampur, Laban, against the accused under Sections 342/365 of PPC with Wah Cant Police Station on May 9.

Mr Tanoli in his FIR nominated Akhtar Nawaz Khan and his brother Saeed Khan for taking hostage his brother.

Akhtar Nawaz Khan returned to the NWFP Assembly from PP-51, Haripur-III.

In his statement, Mr Tanoli told police that the MPA and his brother came to his house accompanied by some other men at around 10am on May 3, and forcibly took away his brother Shafiq Khan Tanoli.

He said when he contacted them by telephone, the MPA demanded Rs10 million in ransom for his brother’s release.

The complainant prayed for early recovery of his brother.

Later, talking to newsmen at Haripur district courts, Mr Tanoli denied having any business deal, owed debt or any enmity with the accused party.

He blamed the MPA for getting signed an affidavit from his kidnapped brother at gunpoint which, according to him, fixed a liability of Rs7.2 million on the signatory who allegedly received this amount from six other persons for sending them abroad.
